Son of William Roe Satterly and Arminda Dayton, husband of Dorothy A. Sweezey, whom he married on April 2, 1879 in Patchogue, NY, and father of Lillian May and Ida Elizabeth Satterly.

Obituary - Selah K. Satterley, a well known resident of Patchogue and Blue Point, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Butler, Jr., on West Main Street, Edwardsville, last Friday afternoon, aged 72 years.

He was a native Long Islander and served through the Civil War. He was an enthusiastic Grand Army veteran, serving as commander of Richard J. Clark Post, No. 210, of Patchogue some years ago. He was one of the leaders in the organization of the West Patchogue fire department and at the time of his death was financial secretary of the hook and ladder company.

Deceased leaves two daughters, Mrs. Roscoe Batey of Patchogue, and Mrs. Charles Butler, Jr., of Edwardsville; besides two brothers, Charles Satterley of Patchogue, and Henry Satterley of Blue Point; three sisters, Mrs. Alonzo Prior of Patchogue, Mrs. Henry Conklin of Commack, and Mrs. James Cooper of East Marion.

Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon from the Butler residence, being conducted by the Rev. J.J. Parsons of the Patchogue Baptist Church. The members of the Richard J. Clark Post and the West Patchogue Hook and Ladder Company attended the funeral in a body, in uniform, and accompanied the remains to the Blue Point Cemetery with muffled drums. Interment was made with military honors.
