Joseph,3 Robinson s. of John,2 Robinson (Isaac,1 Rev. John,A John,B) and Elizabeth Weeks, b. Mar. 31, 1679 at Falmouth, but recorded at Barnstable, Mass. Until the late 1600s when Suconesett (q.v.), now known as Falmouth, Mass., had sufficient population, it was attached to the adjoining Town of Barnstable for vital record purposes. He was bapt. Oct. 21, 1688 with all of his then living siblings at the Barnstable, Mass. Church. Joseph d. testate Sept. 16, 1736 at Falmouth, Æ 58, his will dated Aug. 17, 1734 proved Nov. 2, 1736.

On Oct. 22, 1700 of record at Falmouth, Mass., Joseph m. 1) Bethiah Gall, whose origins have never been found, nor can the date of her death be found. They had one known child at Falmouth, Mass.:

• i. Capt. Rowland,4 (q.v. Roland) Robinson, Esqr., b. May 27, 1701, d. Dec. 9, 1767 at Falmouth, Mass.; m. Oct. 10, 1723 at Falmouth, Thankful Dimock (q.v., Dimmick, Dimick, Dimmuck), dau. of John Dimock and Elizabeth Lumbert, b. Apr. 5, 1702 at Falmouth where she d. Apr. 25, 1775. Three children of the family.

On Dec. 7, 1704 of record at Falmouth, Joseph Robinson m. 2) Bethiah Lumbert, dau. of Thomas Lumbert and Elizabeth Derby (q.v. Darby), b. of record in July 1680 (the day missing in the records) at Barnstable, Mass. She d. Feb. 25, 1739/40 at Falmouth, Æ 60. They had nine children of record at Falmouth:

• ii. Bethiah,4 Robinson, b. Aug. 23, 1705, d. Mar. 31, 1760 at Barnstable; m. Nov. 3, 1726 at Falmouth, Dea. John Hinckley, Jr., s. of John Hinckley and Thankful Trott, b. Feb. 17 (bapt. Feb. 23), 1700/1 at Barnstable, where he d. Apr. 13, 1765. Twelve children of the family.

• iii. Martha Robinson, b. Dec. 8, 1706, d. bef. Aug. 17, 1734 at Falmouth; m. June 22, 1727 as his 1st wife, Benjamin Gifford, s. of William Gifford and his 1st wife Elizabeth Wheaton, b. Aug. 20, 1703 at Sandwich, Mass. They purportedly had one child, a dau. named Martha. Benjamin Gifford m. 2) Sept. 12, 1734 to Hannah Eldred (q.v. Eldridge) by whom he had two known children. He d. May 18, 1788 at Falmouth.

• iv. Capt. Joseph Robinson, Jr., b. Mar. 13, 1708/9, d. Dec. 26, 1783 at Falmouth; m. July 9, 1731 at Falmouth, Hannah Rider (q.v. Ryder), who d. Nov. 10, 1776 at Falmouth. They had two known children. Capt. Joseph Robinson m. 2) Feb. 22, 1777 at Falmouth, Mary Price by whom he had no children.

• v. Jabez Robinson, b. Mar. 12, 1710/11, d. Jan. 7, 1739/40 at Falmouth; m. July 25, 1734 at Barnstable, Hannah Crocker, dau. of Thomas Crocker and Johanna Green, b. May 8, 1711 at Barnstable. Two children of the marriage. The widow Hannah (Crocker) Robinson m. 2) of record Dec. 6, 1744 at Falmouth, Ebenezer Dimock (q.v.), s. of John Dimock and Elizabeth Lumbert, b. in Feb. 1699/700, the day missing in the records.

• vi. Elizabeth Robinson, b. Feb. 8, 1712/13, d. May 28, 1784 at Scituate, Mass.; m. May 16, 1737 at Falmouth, Abiel Turner, s. of John Turner, Jr. and Abigail Padeshall, b. Oct. 4, 1706 at Scituate. He d. Sept. 20, 1798 at Scituate. Ten children of the family.

• vii. Abigail Robinson, b. Jan. 27, 1714/15; d. unmarried Jan. 11, 1739/40 at Falmouth.

• viii. Mercy (q.v. Marcy) Robinson, b. Mar. 24, 1716/17; d. unmarried Mar. 5, 1739/40 at Falmouth.

• ix. Anna Robinson, b. Nov. 23, 1718, d. at Falmouth Jan. 19, 1804; m. Feb. 17, 1736/7 at Sandwich, Mass., Ephraim Swift, s. of Samuel Swift and Ruth Hatch, b. Oct. 11, 1712 at Sandwich. He d. Dec. 22, 1800 at Falmouth. Only one apparent child of the marriage has been found.

• x. Ruth Robinson, b. Apr. 24, 1721, d. Mar. 24, 1761 at Falmouth; m. Dec. 15, 1743 at Sandwich as his 1st wife, Manassah (q.v. Manasseh) Swift, brother of Ruth's sister Anna's husband, b. Mar. 24, 1715/6 at Sandwich. Nine children of the marriage. He m. 2) the wid. Tamar (Chadwick) Dexter by whom he had four more children. He d. at Falmouth Mar. 25, 1807.
