Mrs. G. David Couch

Mrs. Carrie Smith Couch, 85, of 45
Woodlawn Ave., widow of George
David (Dave) Couch, died Tuesday
at a local hospital after three
weeks of serious illness.

Born in Anderson County, April 26,
1898, she was the daughter of the
late Phillip and Carrie Bryant
Smith. She had lived in Greenville
for many years and was employed
with Dan River Mills, Woodside
Plant until her retirement in 1960.
She was custodian at Woodside
Baptist Church and was a member
of W.M.U and the T.E.L. Class
of the Sunday School.

Her late husband, George David
(Dave) Couch died in 1982.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs.
Frances Byers, Mrs. Edna Queen,
Mrs. Sue Freeman and Mrs Faye
Phillips, all of Greenville and Mrs.
Jane Queen of Raleigh, N.C.; two
sons, Edgar S. (Tobe) Couch of
Greer and Ronald D. Couch of Pelzer;
a sister, Mrs. Lois McCoy of
Piedmont,; eleven grandchildren;
twenty great-grandchildren; and
one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted
at 2PM Friday at the Chapel of the
Thomas McAfee Funeral Home by
Rev. Wayne Turner and Rev. Carl
Fiske. Interment will be in Grace-
land Cemetery.

Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 PM
Thursday at the funeral home.
The family is at the residence.
