Jeremy L. Shields, 25, of Blairsville, loving son, father and brother, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at his home. He was born April 28, 1985 in Indiana, the son of Joseph G. Shields and Tammy (Hankinson) Shields, both of Blairsville. Jeremy was an active member of the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Company. He also belonged to the Black Lick Sportsman's Club and the Burrell Township Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, driving in demolition derbies and Ford trucks. He also enjoyed playing paintball and spending time with Jamie, his son, family and friends. He is survived by his parents; eight-month-old son, Jeremy Landon Shields; girlfriend, Jamie Quick, Blairsville; brother, Joseph A. Shields and girlfriend Melinda Kelly, Jerome; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Alice Hankinson, Black Lick; aunts, Karen Hankinson, Blairsville, and JoAnn Hankinson and Justin, Blairsville; uncle, John and Terry Shields, Blairsville; Jamie's parents, Shirl and Jim Quick; Jamie's brother, Jimmy Quick; many other aunts, uncles and cousins; his true friends, Randy, Lance, Bryan and Robbie; and all his brothers and sisters at Station 140. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph C. and Marlene (Lydick) Shields; paternal grandmother, Lucille Spiaggi; and a cousin, John "Tobbs" Shields. Friends were received at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville, where a funeral service was held Sunday with Rev. Brett Dinger officiating. Interment was in the Coral Lutheran Cemetery, Coral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jeremy's name, to help with his son's future, to S&T Bank, 111 Resort Plaza Rd., Blairsville, Pa. 15717.
