Robert W. Copenhaver, Sr., age 90, of Bangor passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born April 24, 1920 in Flint, the son of Samuel and Ella (Rhoda) Copenhaver. He lived in the Bangor area most of his life where he was a fruit farmer and raised ten children on the farm. Bob was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Surviving are his 6 sons, Wayne (Carol) Copenhaver of Mattawan, David (Rita) Copenhaver of Grand Junction, Robert Copenhaver, Jr., Larry Copenhaver, Dana Copenhaver, Kenneth (Margaret) Copenhaver, all of Bangor; 3 daughters, Janice Copenhaver of Bangor, Jacalyn Billings of Grand Haven, Jody (Jim) Dinger of Holland; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, whom he married February 3, 1944; a daughter, Jill Noe; a granddaughter, Rebecca Noe; 2 brothers, and 4 sisters. The family will meet friends from 4-6 PM Sunday at the Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home where funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday with Celebrant Tim Secord officiating. Interment will follow in Southard Cemetery, Bangor Township. The family suggest memorials to the American Heart Association.
