Weldon "Bill" E. Copenhaver, age 88, of Bangor passed away Monday, July 31, 2006 at his home. Bill was born May 30, 1918 in Goodland, MI, the son of Samuel and Ella (Rhoda) Copenhaver and has lived the majority of his life in the Bangor area. He was a member of the Lawrence Bible Church and the Farm Bureau, and was an excellent farmer that enjoyed his cattle and ponies. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Surviving are his wife Jean; 6 children, Sharon Vlietstra of Kalamazoo, Kathy (David) Young of Bradenton, FL, Sue (David) DeDoes of Gobles, Daniel (Sandi) Copenhaver of Bangor, Dennis (Christine) Copenhaver of South Haven, Carol (Ron) Rouse of Bangor; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brother Robert Copenhaver of Bangor. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Eleanor Disbrow, Jean Chema, Betty Peet, Norma Hanley; brother Samuel Copenhaver; and a granddaughter, Melissa Begola. Funeral services were held Friday at the Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Miller officiating. Interment followed in Monks Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the South Haven Area Hospice.
