"The following from Tuesdays Minneapolis Times will be sorrowful news to many of our citizens, especially early settlers of this locality. Mrs. M. L. Wilcox, mother of Dr. Asa Wilcox, Cassius Wilcox and Mrs. Geo. E. Ricker, of this city, died yesterday morning at Port Allen, Ore. of heart trouble. Mrs. Wilcox was at the residence of her daughter at the time, and with her one son and daughter who live in this city. She was well known in this city, especially on the East side. Mrs. Wilcox was born in St. Lawrence county, New York on Feb. 18, 1828. In December 1854 she was married to Ozias Wilcox and two years later they moved to Minnesota, locating on section 8 in the town of Plainview. This continued to be their home until the union was broken by the death of her husband in 1876. A few years later Mrs. Wilcox moved to Minneapolis where she has since made her home except when she was stopping with her daughter, Frances L., in Oregon. Funeral services will be held at Minneapolis next Tuesday and the remains will be brought here that evening and the body will be laid to rest beside that of her husband in the Plainview cemetery Wednesday. The hour for burial has not been decided." [Plainview News (MN), May 27, 1893; obituary provided by Find A Grave Member #50302142]

"The body of Mrs. M. L. Wilcox was brought here Tuesday night as per arrangements announced in last weeks news. Arriving at 8 o'clock the body was at once taken to the home of Dr. N.S. Tefft where short services were held the following day at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.M. Gillis. A large number of old acquaintances gathered at the home of the Doctor on Wednesday to pay their respects and to take a farewell look at their departed friend. The remains were quietly laid to rest in the Plainview cemetery along side of that of the husband and father whose death preceeded her's nearly seventeen and one half years. The body was accompanied from Minneapolis by her two sons and two daughters, Dr. Asa and Cassius Wilcox, Mrs. Nellie Ricker and Mrs. Frances Washburn, the wife of the former, also Mrs. Leech, of Aberdeen and A.Y. Felton of Minneapolis." [Plainview News (MN), June 3, 1893; obituary provided by Find A Grave Member #50302142]
