Born Oct. 24, 1932, in Decatur to Otha and Anna Stearnes Binkley, he married Carol Gebhart on Jan. 9, 1981, in East Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Brian and Jack, both of East Peoria, Ron (and Lisa) of Washington and Denny (and Meta) of Morton; two stepsons, Dave (and Gina) Gebhart of Orlando, Fla. and Dan (and Allison) Gebhart of Marquette Heights; three daughters, Debra Johnson of Roanoke, Karen Peters of Sunnyland and Sharrie (and Daryl) Mabrey of East Peoria; one brother, Richard (and Mary) of Benson, Ky.; one sister, Shirley (and Roy) Crebo of Morton; 11 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.
Two brothers and two grandsons preceded him in death.
He was a Navy veteran.
He worked for Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1993.
He was a member of Highview Church of God in Washington, where he was a youth golf instructor.
He was active in East Peoria-area golf leagues.
He was a former member of Peoria Sportsman's Club.
He donated his body to medical science. Schmidt-Haller Funeral Parlors is in charge of arrangements.
