Lula Bodtke Austin, 99, of Hillside Convalescent Center,233 University Ave., died of a heart ailment there Thursday. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Hamilton's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Mrs. Austin, a homemaker, was born on 14 Jul 1892 in a covered wagon at Peoria Station, Iowa and lived in Lorimor before moving to Des Moines in 1943. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Surviving are three sons, Alfred Bodtke of Greenfield, Charles Austin of Des Moines and Clair Austin of West Des Moines; five daughters,, Viola Anneberg of West Des Moines, Vera Moore of Mount Ayr, Vernetta Dove of Osceola and Virginia Penfold and Jean Yoakum, both of Des Moines; 40 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Lula was married to Emamuel C. Bodtke, her first husband on 25 Apr 1911 at Gilead, Thayer, nebraska.
