Adaline, a child of Edward Maine and Emily (Henkly) Cook, was born on July 7, 1842 in Maine. During her youth, she worked as a maid in Boston before her marriage to Josiah Gilbert Cooley, Sr. in Boston, MA.

After the death of Josiah, she married Philander Ford Green on June 13, 1889 in Becker Co., MN.

The community is shocked by the sudden death of Adaline Green, commonly known as Grandma Green, suddenly fell dead in the yard on Sunday afternoon with heart failure. She was standing by the buggy waiting for her son Josiah Cooley, Jr., to hitch-up the team of horses to take her to the cemetery when the stroke came. She was caught when she fell but never spoke another word. She was carried in to the house and all was done that loving hands could do. Dr. McCurlaugh was called but it was all over with her.

Grandma Green lived a christian life for the past eight years and all that knew her loved her. She was born in the state of Maine on July 7, 1842 making her 73 years old. Funeral services were held at the Free Methodist Church November at 2:00 PM. conducted by Rev Geo. C. Fenscl, pastor of the Free Methodist-Episcopal Church. so that the children and neighbors had confidence in her as a christian. She was a kind mother, loving neighbor.

Her children were all present but one son [Orin Cooley], who could not come because he was kick by a horse recently. George Cooley came from Estavan, Canada; Mrs. Annie Goodwater from Larimore, North Dakota; Josiah Cooley, Jr.; Mrs. Edith (George) Davenport of Motley and Mrs. Emma Mathews, a granddaughter from Staples and many friends from out of town. While it was a rainy day, yet a goodly number gathered at the church to pay their last respects to the dead. She was laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery to wait Resurrection Morning.
