Wm. Schenk Duesler was born in Yates Co, NY, June 5, 1843, & died August 1, 1910, aged 67y 1m 26d. He was married to Mary Etta Hoover, Nov. 28, 1865. To this union were born eight children, five sons and three daughters. His wife, one son and one daughter preceded him to his home above. His wife died November 14, 1894. He was married again to Elizabeth Drummond, May 9, 1895. They resided in Jerry City until his death.
Enlisted in Civil War 12/4/1863, Co I, 9th O.V.C. Partici-pated in Battle of Waynesboro, the Atlanta campaign and all engagements of Sherman's command. Lost leg from Civil War wounds. Received honorable discharge at Lexington, NC 7/20/1865. Pensioned in 1888.
He was a soldier in the late Rebellion and for eighteen months was in the Ninth Ohio cavalry. He was with Sherman in the march to the sea. While young he embraced religion and united with the M.E. church. Years ago he left the M.E. church and united with the United Brethren church, in which he remained a faithful member until death. He leaves a wife, three sisters, two brothers, four sons, two daughters, twenty grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a great company of relatives and the church and many friends to mourn their loss. He was a good husband, a kind father and a useful Christian. At his departing he said it was alright between him and God.... D. O. Tussing.
