Agnes Berkey IOWA CITY, Iowa #45;- Agnes Schmeiser Berkey, 99, Iowa City, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at the Oaknoll Retirement Residence, Iowa City. Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wapello Cemetery. The Rev. Harlan W. Winter will officiate. There will be no visitation. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello is handling the arrangements. Mrs. Berkey was born on Dec. 8, 1903, in Louisa County, the daughter of Emanuel and Christena Wehmeyer Schmeiser. She married Clifford R. Berkey on Aug. 31, 1941. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2000. She graduated from Wapello High School and Cornell College, Mount Vernon, with a degree in home economics. She taught home economics in Alvord, Alton and Lone Tree, prior to her marriage. Survivors include a brother, Maurice Schmeiser and his wife, Maureen, of Wapello and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Martin Schmeiser; and three sisters, Mabel Barnes, Mary Smith and Josephine Walker.
