Josephine S. Walker, 86, of State College died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at The Fairways at Brookline Village.
She was born Aug. 23, 1912, in Wapello, Iowa, a daughter of the late Emanuel and Christena Weh-meyer Schmeiser.
In 1937, she married Eric A. Walker, president of Penn State University from 1956-70, who died Feb. 17, 1995.
She was a 1934 graduate of Iowa State University, with a bachelor's degree in textiles and clothing.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Walker Hearn of Philadelphia; a son, Dr. Brian K. Walker of State College; a sister, Agnes Berkey of Iowa City; a brother, Maurice Schmeiser of Wapello, Iowa; and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
A private graveside service will be at Graysville Cemetery, Franklin Township, Huntingdon County.
