Crash Injuries Fatal To Monticello Man; Rites at Lafayette

MONTICELLO—Rites will be at 3 p.m. today at Hippensteel
Funeral Home in Lafayette for Homer S. Brewer, 81, of here. The Rev. Benjamin Tinsley will officiate and burial will be in Sand Ridge Cemetery. His death at 5:30 p.m. Saturday occurred in Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville, Ky. He expired of injuries suffered in a two-car crash on April 14 on U.S. 41 near Madisonville. A native of Delphi, he lived on route 9, Lafayette, from 1915 until moving here two years ago. His marriage in 1904 was to Iva Dayton, who died in 1958. He was a member of the Christian Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. John Drysdale of Lafayette and Mrs. Dale Doty of Oxford; a son, Basil, of here; six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Alpha Shaw, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Claude Ellis of here and Mrs. Nola Newman and Mrs. Ed Allen, both of Lafayette; five brothers, Howard, Dale, Huber and Orville, all of here, and Newell of Battle Ground.
