ROBERT LEMONT PERRY

Robert Lemont Perry, well known resident of this vicinity, died at Mercy hospital in Des Moines, on Thursday morning, December 23, 1937, at the age of 61 years and 2 days, after a brief illness with asthma and lung trouble.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. O. O. Hobson, of the United Brethren church, were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.

Robert Lemont Perry, son of John E. and Elmira Perry, was born at Attica, Iowa, on Dec. 21, 1876. When he was but two years old he came with his parents to Lucas county, Iowa, where the remainder of his life was lived. For thirty years he had lived as the present home site, five miles west of Chariton. He received his education at the Oxford school in this county. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

He was married on Dec. 10, 1897, to Miss Lulu Hopkins, who preceded him in death about a year and a half ago, passing away on June 19, 1936. To this union four children were born, one of whom, George E., died at the age of six years.

Those surviving are two daughters and one son, Mrs. Mildred J. Hochberger, of Chicago; Mrs. Mary E. McConnell, Kansas City, Mo.; Robert H. Perry, Chicago, Ill. One sister, Mrs. E. H. Paine, of Luther, Okla, and an aunt, Mrs. George King, of Knoxville, are also living, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends far and near.

Mont Perry, as he was familiarly known, was a kind father, a devoted husband, a good brother, a loyal neighbor and friend, and a splendid citizen, and will be greatly missed in the home and in the community.
