In February, 1860, Charles and Rhoda sold their land in Milton Vermont and moved to South Bombay, in Franklin Co, NY. A few months after their move, Charles' wife, Rhoda, died.
At some time in the 1860's Charles moved to Washington, Nevada Co, California, where he worked for a number of years as a miner.
In January 1884, Charles married Clara S. Shammo in Nevada City, California. Clara died less than 3 years later.
Charles died in November 1903 of pneumonia and bronchitis.
