CHARLEES EVERETT AMDOR

Charles Everett Amdor, son of Sarah and Edward Amdor, was born near Carbon, Iowa March 28, 1884 and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning of a heart ailment August 15, 1955 at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 18 days. Mr. Amdor has been a patient at the Rosary hospital for two weeks prior to his death.

On April 3, 1909 he was united in marriage to Anna Blanch Williams who preceded him in death February 24, 1952 and to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Kenneth Gentle of Corning.

He was one of a family of 13 children.

Preceding him in death beside his wife were three brothers and one sister, who died in infancy and one sister, Christina Bruce, of Indianapolis, Indiana, who passed away several years ago.

Surviving Mr. Amdor beside his daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gentle, are four grandchildren, Dick, Bob, Phyllis, and Carol and a granddaughter-in-law, Mrs. Dick Gentle; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Richard and Michelle Gentle; 6 sisters, Mrs. Sophronia Billingsly of Broadwater, Nebraska, Mrs. Lillie Kirtly of Great Falls, Montana, Mrs. Bertha Harstock of Lebby, Montana, Mrs. Esther Leipret, and Mrs. Luella Alpaugh of Corning, Mrs. Eulalia Short of Watseka, Illinois; two brothers, Dale of Massena and Ben of Corning, also many nieces and nephews.

Ev, as he was better known to most people, was a great lover of his home and his livestock. He has always farmed around Adams County and for the past 15 years has resided west of Carbon, where his grandson, Dick, now lives. He became sick in January with a heart attack and, after being in the hospital for three weeks, moved and stayed with his sister, Mrs. Alpaugh. Here he lived and was cared for and enjoyed meeting friends and neighbors until he became suddenly worse and was taken back to the hospital where everything possible was done for him.

He was a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge No. 206.

Funeral services were held at the Roland Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 1955 with the Rev. William Niles in charge.

Interment was in Walnut Grove cemetery.

Music for the services was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer West accompanied by Eva Roland, pianist.

Pall bearers were: Andrew Karstensen, W. B. Downey, Leonard Penwell, Clifford Tindall, Leo Morris, and John Robinson.
