------------

OBIT:

Dr. J. B. Krout, veteran and beloved physician of Fremont, died in the Ottumwa Hospital Saturday morning at 3 o'clock, following the amputation of his arm, which was injured in an automobile accident of several weeks ago.

In the accident Dr. Krout received a cut on the back of his right hand, severing the tendons on the middle finger. Infection developed and the finger was amputated in the hope of saving the other members. The infection spread, and two other fingers were taken off and finally the arm above the wrist. The shock proved too much for one of the Dr. Krout's advanced age and death soon ensued.

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at the Fremont Baptist Church, of which Dr. Krout had long been a member. Dr. Krout's daughter Miss Erma has for many years been the efficient superintendent of schools of Mahaska County.
