The 1915 Kansas State Census for Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas reveals Mary and her husband John Blattner lived two households away from Mary's parents Michael and Mary Andes. John was 23 years of age at the time and Mary was 18. Mary died a few months later in Spearville, Ford County, Kansas on the date of her first wedding anniversary.

"Mrs. Mary Blattner, wife of a young farmer living north of town, died last Wednesday night at the hospital as a result of a severe attack of typhoid fever. Besides the husband, she leaves a four month old child. Interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery Friday, November 19." (This would be St. John's Cemetery in Spearville, Ford County, Kansas where her infant son John Blattner was laid to rest a few months later. Mary's mother, Mary Andes was also buried in this cemetery in June of 1923.
