Bio

I am a retired legal secretary, 65 years of age, and I live in Wichita, Kansas. My passion for genealogy began around 1990 and since then I have spent many happy hours in the dusty past doing research and sharing family histories for both my husband and myself.

I was born October 10, 1943, the oldest daughter of John and Florence (Grauel) Andes. I grew up in the rural community of Lecompton Kansas, and married Henry Eugene Sturdivant at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Big Springs, Kansas December 29, 1962.

My grandfather was a great storyteller and I heard many stories of early family history at his knee. It wasn't until years later I made the connection to these stories and realized I spent my entire childhood living near places my early ancestors settled shortly after arriving in the United States. Many are resting in the little cemetery outside the church that I regularly attended and married my future husband.

My ancestry runs mainly through Klaus, Sulzen, Giersch, Lux, Grauel and Andes Families. My husband's history stems from Loving, ,Stevens, Davis, Strain, Gibbs, Wootten and Sturdivant.

I have visited cemeteries where many from these families are resting and have information and photos on many to share. Currently my photos are too large to be posted on Find A Grave, but I am working on scaling them down and hope to have them posted soon.
