Mrs. Mary Bertha Benson, 63, a native of Gardner and the daughter of pioneers here, died Wednesday (May 16, 1962) in a Pueblo hospital after being ill since November.
Mrs. Benson had worked at the Gardner telephone exchange for 18 years until she retired in November, 1959. She had been baptized in the Lutheran Church, but attended the Methodist Church here.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons, Alva Benson Jr. of Westcliffe and Roy A. Benson of Pueblo; two daughters Mrs. William Johnston of Walsenburg and Mrs. William Boynton of San Diego, California; four grandchildren and one-great-grandson; two brothers, Charles Schmidt of Florence and Albert Schmidt of Gardner.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Gardner Methodist Church with interment in the Gardner Cemetery directed by the Boies funeral home of Walsenburg
