COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Carl Freeman Brown, 76, of Shelbyville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Cookeville.
Earlier funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Hillcrest Funeral Home in
Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Shelbyville.
Mr. Brown died on Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Bedford County Medical Center.
He was born in Putnam County to the late Charlie G. and Mary Ellen Fields Brown. Mr. Brown was former administrator of the Cookeville General Hospital and Bedford County Medical Center. He was a retired employee of Parks Pharmaceutical of Nashville. Mr. Brown was past president of the Shelbyville Civitan Club, a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church, and served in the Army during World War II.
His family includes two brothers and sistersinlaw, Earl G. and Ernestine Brown of Topeka, Kan., and Leo and Alene Brown of Cookeville; a niece, Peggy Mattson of Cookeville; three nephews, Harold, Robert and David Brown; and a host of greatnieces, nephews and greatgreatnieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lee Alcorn Brown.
