Earl G. Brown, a resident of Topeka since 1944, passed from this life on October 3, 2013 at the age of 92. Born in Bloomington Springs, Tennessee to Charlie G. and Mary Ellen Brown, he graduated from high school in Baxter, Tennessee. His enlistment in the U.S. Army in 1942 brought him to Kansas, where he was honorably discharged at Forbes Air Force Base in 1945. Soon afterward, he was employed by the State of Kansas in employment security and human resources, and he retired in 1983 after 38 years of service.

He was married to Dorothy Spivey for 42 years, until her death in 1984. They had two sons: Harold Brown (Parkville, MO), and Robert Brown (Abilene, TX). Subsequently, he was married to Ernestine Walker for 21 years, until her death in 2012.

Earl was a long-time member of the Central Church of Christ in Topeka, where he served as an elder for 24 years.

Visitation will be Monday, October 7 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mount Hope Chapel, Topeka.

The funeral service will be held at the Mount Hope Chapel on Tuesday, October 8 at 10:30 a.m.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers and plants, memorial donations be made to charity.
