He was a member of the 4-H Club and served as a local leader of 4-H from 1936 to 1950. Fred joined the Garland Grange in 1934, and served as secretary from 1937 to 1942. He was also a member of the Pomona and State Granges. He was a Past Master and 60-year member of the Pacific Masonic Lodge AF & AM. He was town manager for several local communities including China, Garland, Exeter, Howland, and Bradford. He later was a district agent for Modern Woodmen of America Life Insurance Company.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel (Batchelder) Olson of Dexter; a son, David Olson of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Diane and her husband, Michael Goodwin of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Eric and his wife, Katie Goodwin of Davidson, N.C., and Emily Goodwin of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Oscar and his wife, Carolyn Olson, of Pittsfield, Mass.; a sister, Ingrid Clark of Portland; two special cousins, Pauline Perrin of Florida, and Douglas Rosie of Rhode Island; many nieces and nephews.
Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Garland. (Bangor Daily News
