RETIRED MERCHANT OF FRANKSTON DIES
News was received in Athens Thursday of the death March 19 of W.M. Burtis at his home in Frankston following an illness of eight months. Funeral services were held on March 20 with Isaac Tackett, Church of Christ minister from Troup officiating.
Interment was in the Frankston cemetery.
Mr. Burtis, a retired merchant, had lived in Frankston for forty-one years and had a number of friends in Athens.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Linnie L. Burtis; four daughters, Mrs. Walter Colquitt of Shreveport, Mrs. Cecil Hilliard of Norfolk, Virginia, Mrs. Gordon Renshaw of Haskell and Miss Alice Burtis of Bryan; one brother, T.W. Burtis of Denison, and three sisters, Mrs. E.C. Gustavus of Dallas, Mrs. John Allen and Miss Mae Burtis of Bryan.
