THERE IS A HEAVENLY GARDEN, by Otis Rainwater

Sometimes God picks the flower
That is still in bloom
Sometimes the rosebud's chosen
That we feel He's picked too soon
Sometimes the flower is fading
With petals floating down
But God knows the perfect time
To gather flowers from the ground
There is a heavenly garden
In which God takes great pleasure
Because He's placed within it
The loved ones that we treasure
He walks among the blossoms
Giving them eternal rest
And I know that it must please him
Because He chose our very best.

Used by permission. The perfect time for Otis to pass from this life came November 4, 2010.

RE: John Wesley & Katie Longmire Davidson, Childress Cemetery
So glad to get this additional information, Wayne. Thanks so much for sharing it with me. I haven't done a lot of work on findagrave, so I am not sure how to request a transfer of John Wesley and Katie to me so I can add additional information. Do I just contact the person who originally added the memorials and ask them to transfer the memorials to me?

My husband and I are planning a trip this fall to Childress to see if we can take photos of the headstones of my grandparents Margaret Davidson Gray and Herbert Scott Gray who are buried in Childress Cemetery Section 'U'. We have not been up to Childress since their burial years ago, and because I do so much research on Ancestry.com, we want to have photos of their gravestones, too. Is Childress Cemetery very far from Frontier Red Hill? I am not familiar with the actual locations of each of the cemeteries.

Do you have a tree in Ancestry.com? We might be able to share even more information that way.

Thank you for your information, and I have enjoyed sharing these records with you today!

Thanks, Jeanne Russell

John Wesley & Katie Longmire Davidson, Childress Cemetery
Wayne,

Yes, Judge John Wesley Davidson was born in Van Zandt County; he died in Wichita Falls in Wichita County, Texas. His father Leaston Davidson was born in Gasden County, Florida, and his mother Mary Anna Germany was born in Neoshoba, Mississippi.

Katie Longmire was born in Dennard's Bluff, Monroe County, Alabama and died in my childhood home in Wichita Falls. Katie's parents R.B. Longmire and Margaret Mason were also born in Alabama. John and Katie are my maternal great- grandparents, and I show that they are both buried in Childress, Childress County.

My maternal grandparents Herbert Scott Gray and Margaret Davidson Gray are also buried in Childress ... they are in the Childress Cemetery Section 'U', Childress, Childress County, Texas.

Are you related to them somehow? You say you would "like to link them to parents" ... do we have relatives in common?

I hope this information I have shared is helpful to you ... please let me know if we are related!

Jeanne Russell
