KINGSPORT - Glenn Richard Parvin, 83, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday (Sept. 24, 2006).

Mr. Parvin was a member of Bays Mountain Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran and served in the 106th Infantry Division. He retired from Tennessee Eastman after 43 years of service. Glenn was a member of the Kingsport Masonic Lodge #688 and the Yorkrite Bodies of Kingsport.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Bailey Parvin; one son, Glenn (Billy) Parvin; parents, Henry and Frances Parvin; one brother, Henry Parvin, Jr.; and four sisters, Verna Smith, Gladys Childress, Mabel Evans, and Irene Thomas.

Surviving are his son, George R. Parvin and wife Rhonda, Kingsport; four grandchildren, Scott Parvin, Glenn "Rusty" Parvin, Melissa Brock, Curtis Griggs; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Viola Day, British Columbia, Canada, Virgie Dykes, Rogersville, Mildred Claibourne, Chattanooga, and Wanda Bruner, Mt. Carmel; two brothers, Harland Parvin, Church Hill, and David Parvin, Rogersville; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Gaither Townsend and Pastor Joel Morton officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Chris Dykes, Tommy Parvin, Riley Jones, Harland Parvin, Jr., Dennis Smith, and Curtis Griggs.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Wanda Grills, 1217 Radcliffe Avenue, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664.
