Helen Geneva Carter Warren, 90, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born June 30, 1920, Mrs. Warren was the daughter of the late Charles Dewitt Carter and Annie Morrow Carter. She was a graduate of Cool Springs School and on April 20, 1946, she was married to Waldo Franklin "Biggie" Warren, who preceded her in death on August 12, 2008. Mrs. Warren was employed with Abromowitz Dept. Store where she worked in shipping and receiving and also worked part-time for Elliott's Ice Cream. She was a member of Cochran Street Baptist Church, where she was the organist. Mrs. Warren is survived by one brother, Herbert Carter (Sue) of Statesville; two sisters, Ruthie Miller of Point Pleasant, NJ. and Gail Hollar of Granite Falls; one niece, Nedda Stone of Statesville; two nephews, Ricky Rhyne and Shane Rhyne both of Statesville; one great niece, Teryn Stone of Statesville and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 4 p.m. Saturday in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.B. Parker, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 - 4 p.m. on Saturday at Nicholson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association . Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Helen Warren. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Mrs. Warrens' caregivers, Barbara Pickett and Pamela Sheets.
