Joe E. Weaver, age 82, was born March 20, 1930, in the Frazer Community of Wayne County, Kentucky. Joe was the youngest child of the late G.C. and Mattie Roberts Weaver. He departed this life Friday morning, February 1, at Cumberland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, Kentucky. Joe was married to Maxcine Hammond Weaver for 40 years, and she preceded him in death on September 1, 2008. Also preceding Joe in death are two sisters, Ora Marcum and Susie Hutchison, and two brothers, Frank Weaver and G.C. Weaver, Jr.

Joe is survived by one sister, Lucy Hutchison, four sisters-in-law: Mary Ruth Weaver, Kathleen Hammond, Dora Riggs, and Barbara Emerson. Also surviving Joe are three brothers-in-law: Bobby, Gale (Judy), and Michael (Sue) Hammond. Lastly, Joe is survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joe was a farmer and a faithful member of New Salem Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Hickey and Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3. Officiating at the service will be Brother Jim Simpson, Brother Keith McKim, and Brother Don Hutchison. Burial will follow at the Elk Spring Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the New Salem Baptist Church or the Gideons.
