Alex P., Chairman and President of Aven Gas & Oil, Inc., died February 6, 1995 after a long battle with persistent illness. He was a wise mentor and formidable friend who contributed his expertise and guidance to a number of professional and civic organizations while being a loving husband to the former Camilla Lytle. Born August 23, 1929 in San Antonio, Tx., he graduated from Classen High School, the University of Oklahoma and the Harvard Business School. Alex started work as a field geologist for British American Oil Production Company and later for Continental Oil Company before serving in the United States Air Force. He returned to Oklahoma City in 1957 as an Executive Vice President for Eason Oil Company before he ventured out as an independent consultant in 1964. In 1969, he was one of the founders of Resource Analysis & Management Group and was instrumental in building it into an organization that continues to serve a large number of local and national clients. In 1977, he sold hi s position in the RAM Group to become President of Fain Porter Production Company. In 1985, Alex and Camilla started Aven Gas & Oil, Inc. Believing public service was an important factor in everyone's life, he served as an instructor in the Business Administration program at Oklahoma City University, was appointed as a consultant to the Administrator of NASA under the Johnson Administration, was reappointed under the Nixon Administration and served as the Vice Chairman of the Oklahoma Energy Advisor y Council. He contributed time and energy to numerous professional geological and petroleum associations and formerly served as a Director and President of the Economic Club of Oklahoma. Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Camilla Lytle Aven; their i nfant daughter; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William R. Aven. He is survived by his son, William C. Aven,
daughter-in-law, Suzan and grandchildren, Erica Virginia and Christian Cobb of Edmond; his daughter, Margaret A. McCoy, son-in-law, David Wade McCoy and grandchildren, Jason Achsah, Virginia Lynne and David William of Kentucky; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William R. Aven of Houston, Tx.; sister-in-law, Margaret Lytle Griner and brother-in-law, John A. Griner, III of Farmington, Ct.; mother-in-law, Joanne Lytle of Oklahoma City; plus a large and loving group of first and second cousins, nieces and nephews.
