George Daniel Sherman was the son of John Sherman and Prudence Gay. (After the death of John Sherman in 1904, Prudence married John Jacobs on 06 July 1909 at Ann Arbor, MI; Prudence was the daughter of Isaac Gay (1799-1856)and Prudence Buell (1802-1879).) George was born 1868 in Milan, MI. He married 01 Dec 1887 in Essex Canada to Sarah Hanlon, the daughter of Hugh Hanlon and Annie Curry. (Ontario, Canada marriages, 1801-1926). Sarah died in 1896, leaving at least 3 children, Imo Sherman, Cora Sherman, and Leemi Sherman. George appears to have married a second time to Carrie Hanlon, sister to Sarah. On the 1930 census for Milan, MI, George was living with his married daughter, Leeann (sp) Jasper, and her husband, Fred, and child, Maxine Jasper.
Note from family researcher: George D. Sherman also married Fannie Newell Zeluff on 27 Sep 1917 in Detroit, MI and Mae Hale, daughter of Samuel Hale and Jane Colf, on 25 Oct 1922 at Ann Arbor, MI. Mae Hale was previously married to Charles B. Kent, born 1870, son of William Kent and Charlotte Rathbun; their marriage was 23 Mar 1912, Lucas, OH; her parents were given as Samuel Hale and Jane Colf.

George Sherman, 68, died at the Sherman homestead two miles southeast of Milan on Friday. He had lived there all his life; he had been ill 4 weeks with diabetes. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jasper (daughter and son-in-law) lived with him. He is also survived by two other daughters: Mrs. Imo Kline of Ypsilanti and Mrs. Cora Kanitz of Milan.
