COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa — Donna Marie Ball, 77, Nichols, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction of a sudden illness.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Jim Jenson and Dean Phelps will officiate. Casketbearers will be Mark Ball, Tom Huggins, Butch Huggins, Tony Ball, Randy Smith, and Toby Tompkins. Burial will be at Letts Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Amenity Hospice of Cedar Rapids.

Donna was born on February 9, 1932, in Letts, the daughter of Art J. and Marie A. Holliday Black. She married Nelson Eugene Ball on June 11, 1950, in Cranston. He preceded her in death in 1996.

She worked at the Catfish Place and Rose Newton's Ceramic Shop in Nichols until retiring in 1996.

She was a homemaker and a loving mother to her three children. She always had a flower garden and loved tending to it. She enjoyed spending time with her pets but most of all she loved being with her friends and family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Catherine Hoyt of Muscatine, Darrel Ball of Nichols, and Kelly Huggins and husband, Tom, of Nichols; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Lou Schroeder of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Robert Kilburn; and a nephew, Gordon Schroeder Jr.
