Services for Dollie Abell, 72, of Hillsboro, Ore., a Durham native and former Quincy resident were held Jan. 7 in Donelson, Dewell and Mathews Mortuary in Hillsboro, Or., the Rev. Jerry Propst and the Rev. Frank Carpenter conducting. Burial was in Fir Lawn Cemetery at Hillsboro. Dollie Abell died Thursday, Jan. 5, 1984 in Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro. Miss Abell was born in Durham, Dec. 11, 1911, a daughter of John and Emma Veach Abell. Miss Abell was a graduate of Durham High School. She worked as a telephone operator at Maywood and in 1950 moved to Quincy where she worked as a presser for Gem City Cleaners for many years. She moved from Quincy to Hillsboro in 1970. She was a member of Hillsboro First Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching children in Sunday school classes and had done this since shortly after graduating from high school. Surviving are a brother, John Abell of Bonaza, Ore.; and a halfsister, Lottie Balsar of Maywood.
