---Mrs. Eliza Jane Blessing, the last of the charter members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, now the Community Presbyeterian Church, organized here in 1874, succembed to the infirmities of age at the family home here Wednesday, February 1, 1928. Mrs. Blessing was La Plata's oldest woman citizen and most highly esteemed throughout the county.
---Miss Eliza Jane Davidson was born near Boonville, Cooper County, Missouri, November 17, 1838, the daughter of Rev. Samuel C. and Isabelle Davidson.
---In 1845 she moved with her family to Macon County and at an early age united with the Old Shiloh Presbyterian Church.
---In 1854 she was married to Dr. W.W. Moore and to this union was born four children, two of whom died in infancy. The other two, Mrs. Sammie Randall of La Plata and Walt B. Moore of McLouth, Kansas, survive her.
---Dr. Moore was killed in the Civil War. On September 1, 1873 she united in marriage with George Nicholas Blessing who died in 1907. There are three children of this union who survive their mother, Mrs. Lula B. Haines of this city, Mrs. Lyndall Whitmore of New York City and Albert Blessing of St. Charles, Missouri and an adopted daughter, Mrs. A.R. Svans of Nakomia, Illinois, a step-daughter, Mrs. Ida Blessing Rowen of Sheridan, Wyoming, twelve grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
---She had been confined to her bed for the past fifteen weeks and during that time the love and respect with which she was held in the community were shown by the untiring devotion of her family and friends.
---Funeral services will be held at the church Friday afternoon at 2:00 conducted by Rev. Wylie F. Steen. The remains will be laid to rest in the city cemetery beside her husband.
