SIDNEY V.Died Friday, Nov. 20, 1987, at Dixon Memorial Hospital, Denham Springs. He was 71, a native and resident of Gonzales. He was retired self-employed contractor. Visiting at Welsh Funeral Home, Gonzales, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Religious services at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Galvez, at 2 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Walter McNutt and Dr. Connie E. Ward. Burial in church cemetery. Survived by wife, Myrtis Dixon Nickens, Gonzales; a daughter, Bonnie Nickens Gravette, Gonzales; two sons, Nolan and Glenn Nickens, both of Gonzales; two sisters, Mabelle Sharp, Baton Rouge, and Dorothy Thomassie, Gonzales; a half-sister, Adele Simpson, Galvez; two brothers, Lee Nickens, Galvez, and Earl Nickens, Harahan; a half-brother, Bud Persac, Galvez; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchidlren. Preceded in death by parents, Sidney B. and Ida Roddy Nickens; a son, Davis Ray Nickens; and a half-brother, Henry Persac. Pallbearers will be Kenny Gravette, Keith Gravette, Mark Gravette, Darrin Nickens, Jeff Nickens, Jeff Forrester and Kent Gravette. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Galvez, Little Creek and 444 Hunting Clubs, Livingston Parish.
