She was a 1931 graduate of Occoquan High School and member of the St. Paul Methodist Church. She owned and operated one of the first beauty shops in the Occoquan-Woodbridge area for more than 60 years, known as Cornelia's Beauty Shop.
She was the youngest of eight children born to the late Benjamin Franklin Wood & Byrd Anderson Wood.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl R.. Ireland of Virginia; two grandsons, Michael Ireland and his wife, Jennifer & Mathew Ireland and his wife, Kimberly; seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, December 30, 2009.
