The sudden passing of Mrs. Hattie Bramow which came Sunday morning provided a source of grief to her loved ones and many friends who had learned to love her because of her sweet Christian spirit.
She had not been so well of recent days, but no one knew that her condition was serious. When relatives visited her late Saturday night, she seemed of good spirits and said she was well enought to stay alone. When Earl, her son went to her home Sunday morning, he was shocked to find she had passed away during the night. Indications are that her passing was calm and peaceful with no struggle or suffering.
Hattie Bramow, daughter of John and Mary Peterson was born in Lincoln Township, Adams County, Iowa on April 12, 1884 and was a resident of Adams County, Iowa all her life. She had been in failing health for many years and passed away early Sunday morning, August 24, 1941 at her home in Corning, Adams County, Iowa. at the age of 57 years, 4 months, 12 days.
After her marriage on August 2, 1906, she lived on a farm near Prescott, Iowa. In 1928 she moved to Corning where she has since made her home.
On May 5, 1900, she was converted and since that time, she lived a yielded life to her saviour, often speaking of her eternal home. She united with the Old Baptist Church, but moved her membership to Prescott Metodist Church while she lived there. Since moving back to Corning, she has been an active member of the Corning Baptist Church, attending all services when her health would permit.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, James and Amdor. Near relatives left to mourn her departure are her sister, Mrs. Anna White, two daughters, Mrs. Edith Wilson and Velda Holiday of Creston, two sons, Merrill Bramow of Baltimore, Maryland, and Earl of Corning. Three grandchildren, Roland, Myrna Joan, and Warren Dale Wilson of Creston. Many close relatives and friends deeply grieve her passing.
Her life to her saviour was perfect and her sweet Christian spirit was an uplift to all who came in contact with her. Her life was a cherished memory not only to her own family, but to all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Augut 27, 1941 in the Baptist Church in Corning with Rev. Thurman Bowen in charge. Burial was in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
