Heart Attack Claims Father Of John Dawes
Funeral services for Earl Dawes, 66, father of John Dawes, Carnegie, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Carnegie.
The elder Mr. Dawes died Saturday morning in a Lovington, N.M., hospital following a sudden heart attack. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Dawes of Carnegie. His son, John, is the vocational agriculture teacher in the local public schools.
Born on September 13, 1900, at Rocky, Okla., Dawes had worked as a driller in oil fields in all parts of the United States and in South America. He was living at Lovington, N.M. when he suffered the fatal heart attack.
His wife preceded him in death July 5, 1928.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Lemmons of Freeport, Texas; a son, John of Carnegie; a step-son, Roy, who is stationed with the Air Force in Germany; four brothers, Jack W. of Bethany, Drew of Pampa; Lee of Utah and Albert of Plainview, Tex.; and a sister, Mrs. Travis Harris, Oklahoma City.
