MRS. EMMA SMITH DAWES died at Electra, Texas, Thursday, July 5, 1928. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Smith of this community (Hastings) and was born in 1900, coming to Hastings with her parents while still a child. In 1919 she was married to Earl Dawes and to this union three children were born, one having preceded its mother to the better land six months ago. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Hastings Friday afternoon, Mrs. Dawes being a member of that faith, the Rev. Archer, Hastings pastor, in charge. The body was borne to the Hastings cemetery and there laid to rest by the side of the baby and Mrs. Dawes' mother, who were buried there. Mrs. Dawes leaves a husband, two children, a father, sister and four brothers, besides a host of friends to mourn her passing.
