KENNETH CHMIEL
AGE: 60 COLONIA
Kenneth P. Chmiel, of Colonia, died Sunday at the Victoria Health Care Center in Matawan, NJ. He was 60.
Born in Jersey City, he lived in Bayonne before moving to Colonia in 1956.
He worked as a stock person for food town in Colonia for 2 years. He was a member of the Colonia first Aid Squad for over 20 years. Ken spent his later years writing poetry, playing pool, watching classic movies, listening to music and rooting for the Yankees.
He is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Mary Chmiel.
Surviving are his brothers, Thomas of Woodbridge and Richard of Ortley Beach; sister, Margaret Guidetti of Woodbridge. He is also survived by 2 nephews, Michael and Gary Guidetti; 2 nieces, Catherine and Rebecca Chmiel.
A service will be held on Thursday at 8:30 AM at Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St. John Vianney's RC Church, Colonia. Burial will be held in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, family request donations to the Benjamin Chmiel Scholarship Fund, c/o the Colonia High School.
