Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 27th, at the Sorum Chapel for Mrs. Ernest Baker, who died at the Faulk County Memorial hospital the previous Saturday. Rev. John Steffensen officiated. Mrs Wm. Bierman was soloist. She sang "My Home, Sweet Home," and "Sunrise." Miss Belle Johnston was organist. Pallbearers were Herbert Holscher, Berlyn Wakefield, Charles Currier, Fred Gabler, Ray Kellett and Ashton Howe. Interment was in the Faulkton cemetery.
Iona Fillbach, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Fillbach. was born on January 2, 1882, in Iowa County, Wis. At the age of four years, she came to South Dakota with her parents and resided on a farm in Emerson township until the time of her marriage. In October (note- 15th) 1901, she was united in marriage with Ernest L. Baker. They made their home on a farm northwest of Cresbard with the exception of six years when they resided in Wecota.
Mrs. Baker was baptized and became a member of the Norbeck Baptist church on May 8, 1955.
Due to her failing health, they spent the last three winters in Faulkton. She died at the Faulk County Memorial Hospital June 23, 1956, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 21 days.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, her parents, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Baker of Faulkton, and one brother, Arthur Fillbach, of Wecota.
Through her illness Mrs. Baker was always cheerful and uncomplaining, an inspiration to those around her.
