Otis Gibson Akers, well known resident of Everett, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 29, 1943. He was born on February 8, 1859 at Robinsonville, Pa., and was a son of Job S. and Sarah J. (Barton) Akers. He had three former wives: Mary Mills who died March 27, 1892; Ella Lake, who died May 11, 1905; Martha J. Winter, who died December 17, 1917. On August 1, 1923, he was united in marriage with Maria B. Jackson, who survives, as do the following children: Archie A. Akers of Santa Rosa, California; Guy Akers of Cherokee, Iowa; Webster Akers of Larrabee, Iowa; Mrs. Ralph Appleton of Point Pleasant, N.J. The following brothers and sisters survive--George U. Akers, Cherokee, Iowa; William Akers, Everett; Mrs. Jacob Vogel of Philadelphia; Mrs. M.L. Morris of Clearville; Mrs. Belle Crouse of Metamora, Ohio. Mr. Akers was a farmer during the early part of his life, having owned farms in Pennsylvania and Iowa. He had lived a semi-retired life for the past thirty years and for the past 20 years resided at Riverside. Funeral services were held on Monday at Shreve's Chapel with Rev. Walter Swank officiating. Interment was in Shreve's Chapel cemetery under the direction of D.S. Gump & Son.
