Abraham Lincoln Hawkins, son of Royal Wallace and Caroline Hawkins, was born July 4, 1869, at Luray and departed this life at the Mitchell Rest Home on January 17th, at 6 a.m. at the age of 90 years, 6 months, and 13 days.

He was united in marriage to Martha Ellen Swisher on January 15, 1893. To this union were born seven children. He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant son, and daughter, a grandson, James, also one sister, one half-sister, and two half-brothers..

Those left to mourn their loss are five sons, Royal and Albert of Keokuk, Iowa; Archie and William of Luray and Edgar of Milan, Illinois. Nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and one half-sister, besides a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

He was converted at an early age and united with the Methodist Church and was a faithful member until death. He spent his entire life in Clark County.

Funeral services were held from the Luray Methodist Church Tuesday, January 19 at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. E. K. Parrott, assisted by the Rev. Homer Steinhardt.

Pallbearers were Morris Hawkins, Dale Hawkins, Kenneth Hawkins, Owen Hawkins, Carl Dochterman, and Carmen O'Day.

Flower attendants were Connie Hawkins, Katherine Hawkins and Sheryl O'Day.

Music was by Mrs. Creva Gutting, soloist with Mrs. Inez Mosier, pianist.

Interment was in the Combs Cemetery.
