Shirley is a sister to Albert F., born about 1925; Mary Jane, born about September 1926; and her twin, Charles D.; all born in Kansas.
The family came to Oregon before 1942 and settled in Umatilla county before moving to Roseburg in 1945.
She married Paul Jackson in 1967. He was born 7 March 1918 and died in February 1980.
She married Patrick Lenard Cleary in Reno, Washoe, Nevada on 6 October 1986.
"She operated numerous beauty salons in Douglas County and owned Roseburg Beauty college in the 1960s and '70s. She was active in real estate development and was managing partner of the Thunderbird Shopping Center in Medford. She also helped manage Paul Jackson Wholesale. She was interested in anthropology and art, and chaired the annual art auction for United Way, hosted exchange students from Mexico and Hong Kong, and was active in the Oregon Wine Growers Association. She also assisted with fund raising for charitable organizations in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where she had a second home."
