On Sunday morning, August 22, 2010, Willie Laurel was called home. Willie the 7th of 8 children was born December 18, 1927. Willie was raised in Newark, NJ.

Willie attended the Newark Public School system. He held down several positions during the years. From holding his first job, working in the railroad yard. Moving to the Peanut Brittle factory. Willie Laurel went on to enlist in the United States Air Force. While serving, he took a leave of absence to marry his sweetheart, Julia Jones on July 14, 1946. He was honorably discharged 11 months later.

Willie was employed as a construction worker, in a meat packing center, and in the plastic factory. His last job was with the Port Authority of NY & NJ. He retired from the Port Authority in February 1993 after 30 years as a maintenance supervisor.

Willie was preceeded in death by his mother Mamie Laurel, Father John Laurel, 1 sister Olia Parham, 6 brothers Obie Laurel, Artis Laurel, Richard Laurel, Ulysses Laurel, Alvin Laurel, Flozel Laurel and 2 daughters Janet Laurel and Andrea Laurel.

Willie Laurel is survived by his wife Julia Laurel, 2 children Patricia Michel and Marie Laurel, 5 grandchildren Pamela Laurel, Cynthia Laurel, Phillip Laurel, Rahman Stewart, Amanda Laurel, 10 great-grand children Dominique Laurel, Johnathan Laurel, Jasmine Laurel, BreAnne Laurel, Michael Laurel, Deoin Laurel, Camille Laurel , Jaiden Laurel, Sarenity Laurel and Caila Laurel and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
