Well known about Jamestown, died at the Marion Soldiers Home last week and was buried at Lizton, Saturday. Mr. Bowman was born in Montgomery county, Oct. 2, 1844, and was 62 years and 16 days old at his death. He enlisted in the army in the civil war at the age of eighteen. He was married Dec. 29, 1868 to Priscilla Bush. To them were born six children as follows: Ina [Ira], Elizabeth, Marion, Joshua, Erastus and Minnie Florence. The widow and five of the children survive him. Lebanon Pioneer, Nov. 4, 1906

Notes: This obituary was obtained from the SullivanMunce Center in Zionsville, Indiana. Note Jacob Bowman's grave is in the Poplar Grove Cemetery which is north of Lizton in southern Boone County. Also the oldest son was Ira instead of Ina Bowman. Boone County Marriage Records give his marriage date as 1867.
