Thomas Whitlock was the son of Joseph Mordecai and Esther "Hetty" [Marache] Mordecai. He was the grandson of Moses Mordecai from Bonn, Germany and Elizabeth [Whitlock] "Esther" Mordecai. Thomas married Lucretia Cohen on November 19, 1834 in Charleston. Lucretia was the daughter of Mordecai and Leah [Lazarus] Cohen who was born Oct 13, 1807. They were the parents of 16 or 18 children, many of whom died as infants. Family research has revealed that they had 8 sons and 10 daughters.
One could assume that the large burial mausoleum in the KKBE cemetery, holds Thomas and most of his large family, as there are no single burial plots for any of his children in this old Jewish Burial Ground.....
Thomas was an auctioneer and broker in Charleston.

Their wedding announcement:
Jewish Marriage Notices by Barnett A. Elzas, page 15: Married on Wednesday, 19th instant, Thos. W. Mordecai, Esq., to Lucretia, daughter of Mordecai Cohen, Esq., all of this city. The Courier, Nov 25, 1834.
