Thomas Whitlock, Jr. was the eldest son of Thomas Whitlock, Sr. and Lucretia "Cohen" Mordecai. On the 1860 Charleston, SC Census, Thomas is listed as a 19-year-old "Collegist." He died May 11, 1861 on Sullivan's Island, from diptheria contracted at Fort Moultrie. He served as an Ordnance officer with the Charleston Light Dragoons. Thomas was unmarried.
