DAVENPORT - Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Rozari M. "Rosie" (Schultz) Brooks, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by Vietnam Veterans of America Post No. 299. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-De Vries Funeral Home. The family invites you to join them in a rosary service offered in the funeral home on Monday at 5 p.m. Rosie died Thursday, August 28, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus after a brief Illness. Rozari M. Schultz was born October 12, 1919, in Davenport, the daughter of John L. Schultz and Amelia V. (Cavannaugh) Schultz. She was a Navy veteran of World War II and served with the Medical Corps on both the East and West Coast. Rosie was one of the first nursing graduates of Eastern Iowa Community College. She worked and managed in numerous nursing homes throughout the Quad-City area and retired in 1986 from Americana Nursing Home. Rozari M. Schultz married Robert E. Brooks, February 9, 1945, in Wabash, Indiana. She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post No. 828, American Legion Post No. 26 and Waves National Unit 105. She was a charter member of the All Veterans Memorial Association. Rosie often was referred to as Mom and Grandma to all those who knew and loved her. Memorials may be made to VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 828 or the family. Survivors include her daughters, Judith A. Brooks-Olson (Harold "Chester" Johnson), Viola, Illinois, and Veronica Brooks, Davenport; sons, Robert E. Brooks Jr. (Diana), Davenport, John F. Brooks, Rock Island, Benjamin T. Brooks, Davenport, and Stan A. Ray (Wendy), Davenport; a sister, Harriet C. "Cozie" Dias, Davenport; grandchildren, Roseanna M. Bell, Monica S. Okey, John T. Brooks, Anna V. Wachhotz, Ian R. Fix, Jennifer K. Brooks, Michael P. Howard, James A. Howard, Jason H. Howard, Carmarita M. Brooks-Modler, Philadelphia N. Brooks, Rosaria Brooks, Savannah A. Brooks, Joshua Ray, Gabrielle "Gabe" Ray and Sarah Ray; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Other family members include Twilla V. Fernandez and Linda and Sy Fix; and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Schultz and Nadine Schultz. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Howard; sisters, Ann Lacey, Mary Schultz and Judy Janney; and brothers, John L. Schultz Jr. and William T. Schultz. May they rest in peace.
