Alma Williams Nance, 85, passed away August 25, 2010. She was a native of Suffolk, but a 5 year resident of Village at Wood's Edge in Franklin, VA. Born in Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Lester Joyner Williams and Moses Hugh Williams. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert "Bobby" Rawls Nance, sister, Helen Gardner and brother, John Williams. Alma worked for numerous years at the Suffolk News-Herald as a Linotype Operator. She was a member of Suffolk Christian Church and the West Memorial Sunday School Class. She was also a past member of the Eastern Star.

Alma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rawls and Brenda Nance of Franklin, VA; grandchildren, Chris Nance, Jeff Nance and wife, Casey; great grandchild, Madelyn Paige Nance; special friends, June Gray and extended Camp Wawenock family of Maine, and Ann Pierce of Franklin.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Friday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to Suffolk Christian Church West Memorial Fund P.O. Box 1457, Suffolk, VA 23439.
